NSW: Suspicious fire destroys primary school
Investigations are underway after a primary school in the Illawarra was destroyed bya suspicious fire overnight.
Police say they were called to the Kemblawarra Primary School at Kemblawarra, nearPort Kembla at 10.37 pm (AEST) after an intruder alarm was activated.
When they arrived they found the main complex of the school well alight.
Fire Brigade personnel arrived a short time later but struggled with the blaze forseveral hours before it was brought under control at around 2.30am (AEST) this morning.
The school building was completely destroyed.
Detectives from Lake Illawarra and the Forensic Services Group will attend the scenethis morning.
The fire is being treated as suspicious and anyone with information is urged to contact police.
